The Houston Texans have signed quarterback Brett Rypien to a contract as of Saturday. This move comes after Graham Mertz was placed on season-ending injured reserve, prompting the Texans to seek additional depth at the quarterback position.
Rypien, who played in one regular-season game for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2025, took only three offensive snaps during that appearance. He is expected to serve as an emergency option behind starters C.J. Stroud and Davis Mills on the Texans' roster.
Further details regarding the terms of Rypien's contract have not yet been disclosed.
